c.1941 Marx, No.444 Mechanical Sand & Gravel Truck in Original Box
Extraordinary pressed steel mechanical Sand truck. Incredible unused store stock in brilliant near mint to mint condition complete with original box. The truck is comprised of a red enameled, single piece cab and chassis embossed with extended front and rear fenders, running boards, doors and Marx logo. It has a one piece, embossed pressed tin grille and headlight assembly, as well as a pressed tin hood divider. The stationary dump bed is bright blue with sloping tailgate. Yellow, red, and black "SAND" decals flanked by the Marx logo appear on both sides of the dump bed. Although the box specifies the truck as sand and gravel, only sand decals are present. Underneath the chassis the mechanical wind-up motor is protected under a chrome plated steel cover. The tires are wooden black. The original box was printed with blue details. Two panels show a simple portrait of the truck. The other two panel and endflaps were printed with the name of the toy, manufacturers name, and address. Size: 9". Sold: Dec. 2005
